To preview a saree with AI, photograph the body fabric, the border and the pallu flat in daylight, upload them to Preloom, choose the saree garment type and describe the drape, pleat style and blouse. Preloom generates a photoreal draped saree from those fabrics, usually within a minute, and you refine it with plain-English edits.
A saree is sold flat or folded, but it is worn in folds. That is the whole problem. A buyer looking at a folded saree in a shop, or at a flat photo online, has to imagine where the border runs, how the pleats fall and how much of the pallu shows over the shoulder.
Why is a saree so hard to picture from the fabric?
Drape. The same length looks crisp and sculpted in a stiff silk and fluid in georgette or chiffon. Pleats. The front pleats concentrate the body pattern into narrow vertical folds, so a large motif becomes stripes. Pallu. The decorated end is the most visible part when worn, but in a folded saree it is often hidden. Border. It runs along the hem and up the pallu edge, framing the whole outfit, so its width and contrast matter more than they look on the bolt. Blouse. It is a separate piece, often from a blouse piece in the same saree or a contrast fabric.
Because Preloom builds the preview from your photos, give it each part. Photograph the body, the border and the pallu separately and upload all of them for one design. The fabric photo guide explains how to shoot zari and silk without glare.
Saree drapes and blouse styles to describe
| Choice | Effect | How to describe it to Preloom |
|---|---|---|
| Nivi drape | The most familiar drape, pleats at the front, pallu over the left shoulder | "Nivi drape, neat front pleats, pallu over the left shoulder falling to the knee" |
| Open pallu | Shows more of the pallu design | "Pallu worn open and spread across the back, not pleated" |
| Pleated pallu | Neater, more formal | "Pallu pleated narrowly and pinned at the shoulder" |
| Seedha pallu | Pallu brought over the front | "Pallu brought from the back over the right shoulder to the front" |
| Classic blouse | Short sleeves, round neck | "Blouse in the contrast fabric, short sleeves, round neck" |
| Statement blouse | Draws attention to the shoulders and back | "Sleeveless blouse with a deep back and tie, or puff sleeves with a sweetheart neck" |
Regional drapes beyond these are harder for any AI model to render faithfully. Describe the result you want plainly and check it.
Which Preloom options apply to sarees
Choose the saree garment type, and the blouse garment type if you want to design the blouse on its own. For fine border and pallu work, Preloom 2 Pro at high quality gives the most detail; use a low quality draft first to settle the drape, then regenerate at high quality. Portrait size (1024×1536) suits a full-length saree.
Use Tweak for one change at a time: "show more of the pallu", "make the border wider at the hem", "change the blouse to elbow sleeves". On Professional and Enterprise plans you can place the saree on a photoreal AI model, choosing pose and scene, for listings and catalogues. The AI model photos guide covers how to use them honestly.
