To design a kurta with AI, photograph the fabric flat in daylight, upload it to Preloom, choose men's or women's kurta and describe the cut: collar or neckline, sleeve length, kurta length and fit. Preloom generates a photoreal kurta from that exact fabric, usually within a minute, and you can tweak it in plain English until it looks right.
The kurta is the garment most fabric in Pakistan and North India is bought for, which is also why it is so hard to choose from a bolt. The same lawn print reads very differently on a short straight kurta than on a calf-length A-line one, and a placket or neckline can sit right on a motif or cut it in half. A preview lets you see that before stitching.
Why is a kurta hard to picture from unstitched fabric?
Three things change between the bolt and the finished kurta. Print scale: a motif that looks small on a two-metre length can dominate a narrow front panel. Placement: the placket, neckline and daman (hem) decide where motifs land, and printed suits often have a separate embroidered neckline or border piece that must line up. Drape: lawn and cotton hold a crisp straight shape, while linen, khaddar and silk fall differently at the hem and sleeves.
Preloom reads print scale and texture from your fabric photo, so the photo matters. Shoot a full repeat of the print, and photograph a border or neckline panel separately; you can upload several fabric images for one design. The fabric photo guide covers the method.

Which Preloom options apply to kurtas
Preloom has garment types for men's kurta, women's kurta, kurta set, girls' kurta and boys' kurta. Pick one, then either choose a style template or describe the style yourself. Add a reference garment photo if you want a specific silhouette copied.
Once a preview is generated, use Tweak to change one thing at a time: "make the collar mandarin, sleeves 3/4" or "shorten to knee length and add side slits". Every version is kept, so you can step back if a change goes too far.
Example kurta descriptions that work well
- "Men's kurta in this fabric, band collar, full sleeves with buttoned cuffs, hidden placket, slim fit, hip length."
- "Women's A-line kurta, sweetheart neckline with the border fabric as a yoke, bell sleeves, calf length."
- "Straight kurta with the second fabric as a contrast dupatta, straight trousers, Eid look."
- "Short cotton kurti, Chinese collar, roll-up sleeves, curved hem, casual."
For sellers and brands: one fabric, many kurtas
If you sell unstitched suits or plan a kurta range, the batch grid pairs up to 12 fabrics with up to 12 kurta styles and generates every combination, up to 60 designs per batch. Put the results in a collection and share the link with a buyer, who can approve, comment or request a change on each design without an account. On Professional and Enterprise plans you can also place any kurta on a photoreal AI model for listings.
