To design a sherwani with AI, photograph the fabric and any embroidery flat in daylight, upload it to Preloom, choose the sherwani garment type and describe the collar, length, fit, buttons and embroidery placement. Preloom generates a photoreal sherwani from your fabric, usually within a minute, and you refine details in plain English before the tailor cuts it.
A sherwani is a structured coat, not a loose garment. It is lined, interfaced and fitted, often from jamawar, raw silk, brocade or velvet, and it is usually ordered once for a wedding. The fabric swatch tells you very little about how that structure, the button line and the embroidery will look together.
What makes a sherwani hard to visualise?
Structure. A sherwani holds its shape at the chest and shoulders, so a fabric that looks soft on the roll reads as firm and tailored. Embroidery placement. Work on the collar, front opening, cuffs and hem frames the garment; all-over work makes it heavier and more formal. On the bolt, both look like the same embroidered cloth. Buttons. The number, size and finish of the buttons (self-fabric, metal, stone) form a strong vertical line down the front. Length and pairing. Knee or below-knee length, worn with churidar, straight trousers or a shalwar, with or without a stole or turban, all change the proportions.
Preloom reads the fabric's colour, texture and pattern from your photo. For embroidered panels, upload a wide shot and a close-up of the work; the fabric photo guide explains how to avoid glare on zari and velvet.

Which Preloom options apply
Choose the sherwani garment type, or men's waistcoat and suit for other formal looks from the same fabric. Bridal outfit works for a full groom look. Settle the shape with a low-quality draft, then regenerate the chosen version on Preloom 2 Pro at high quality for embroidery detail.
If you are choosing between several fabrics, a batch grid pairs up to 12 fabrics with up to 12 styles (up to 60 designs per batch). Share the results as a collection so the family can comment on each option without creating an account.
Tweak handles the decisions a groom and tailor go back and forth on: "make the collar higher", "gold buttons instead of self-fabric", "embroidery only on the collar and cuffs". On Professional and Enterprise plans you can place the sherwani on a photoreal AI model, which helps a client see it worn. For when a preview is enough and when you still need a stitched sample, see AI preview vs physical sample.
